WHAT MOST 17-YEAR-OLDS ARE UP AGAINST.

When the average kid finally gets behind a real wheel, here's what they're walking into.

⚠️

£1,800

is what most families spend on instructor lessons before their kid passes the test.

This is what every parent dreads. It's also what we're working to change.

START EARLY. DRIVE SAFER LATER.

Over 1.6 million lessons across 70 UK venues, with experienced instructors teaching road safety to young people. For 15+ years, Young Driver has been teaching 9-17 year olds to drive on private land, in real cars, with UK Government-approved instructors. By the time they take their first lesson on the road at 17, they've already got hours behind the wheel, the muscle memory of using a clutch, and the confidence to drive without panic. The result: kids who learn early are 80% less likely to crash in their first year of public-road driving. They pass their test faster. Their insurance is lower. And, frankly, they're a hell of a lot less terrifying for everyone else on the road.

WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS AT A LESSON.

Dual controls. No traffic. Total safety.

The instructor can intervene at any moment. It's a closed course on private land - away from public roads, traffic and pedestrians. No pressure.

Plus they're a safer driver. Plus their insurance is lower (no-claims, fewer accidents). Plus you've already given them a brilliant gift. Even on lessons alone they come out ahead - and the safety head-start is worth far more than the numbers.

FROM THE FOUNDER

“I started Young Driver in 2009 because I was convinced that kids could learn to drive safely - and that doing it early would save lives later. Today, over 1.6 million lessons across 70 UK venues later, with experienced instructors teaching road safety to a generation of young people, the data agrees. Every parent who books a lesson is making their kid a safer driver. That's still what gets me up in the morning.”

★★★★★

Great awareness of SEN

“We booked a one hour lesson in an automatic at Manchester Old Trafford for our 13 year old son's birthday. He is SEN/ASC and super anxious. Stuart went above and beyond to speak to him on arrival, reassure him, show him the car, and even suggested the lesson was moved forward by 15 mins so our son wouldn't be overwhelmed by queuing with other people. My son absolutely loved his lesson and we'll be trying to book again with Stuart as he was so kind and understanding and a great teacher.”

My 15 year old was delighted

“My 15 year old was delighted with his driving experience at Stoneleigh today. He has never driven before but in no time was driving around the course, changing gear, steering and using the clutch. As a driving instructor myself I have experienced pupils who had been on a Young Driver experience before they were 17, and the first lesson has always gone a lot more smoothly as they had some prior experience.”

Richard Cole

★★★★★

Great first driving experience!

“Excellent experience for our 14 year old with no driving experience and after an hour he was driving with a manual gearbox. Thank you Katherine, would highly recommend.”

Su F

★★★★★

Excellent confidence builder

“It was my 16 year old son's 2nd 30 min lesson. He thought he would not remember the 1st lesson but once in the car the instructor praised his efforts and he came out glowing with confidence. Will book a 1hr lesson next time.”

Laura

★★★★★

An excellent experience

“They made my 16 year old daughter feel very relaxed and at ease on her first time driving a car. She really enjoyed her experience and learnt a lot.”

Alison

★★★★★

Excellent company

“Both of my children - current ages 15 & 13 - have loved their experiences so far, both at the Grendon and now Stoneleigh Young Drivers Courses. Highly recommend Young Drivers.”

QUESTIONS PARENTS ASK US.

As soon as you pay, we email you a confirmation with your voucher code. The recipient (or you) enters the code on Young Driver's website, picks a venue and date that works, and shows up. They drive. Simple as that.

12 months from purchase. Plenty of time to find a date that works.

Yes. There are 70+ Young Driver venues across the UK - race courses, airfields, large car parks. They pick the one that's most convenient when they go to book.

There's a minimum height of 1.4m for the standard lesson (it's a real car, real seat, real pedals). If they don't meet the height requirement when you go to book, you can pass the lesson on to someone else - it's transferable. (A full refund is available within 14 days of purchase, the standard cooling-off period.)

Within 14 days of purchase you can request a full refund - that's the standard cooling-off period. After 14 days the voucher is non-refundable, but it stays valid to book your lesson right up to its expiry date.

Instantly. As soon as your payment goes through, the confirmation email lands in your inbox. You can forward it on, print it out, or wrap it up.

Young Driver is inclusive and works with kids who are deaf, blind, have learning difficulties, neurological conditions, or physical disabilities. You can call 0333 577 9010 or email info@youngdriver.com when booking the date - they'll match the right instructor and venue.

Cameras inside the car film the whole lesson as a split-screen - the kid driving alongside their reactions. You leave with the video the same day - a file you can keep, share, and watch back. The kind of thing grandparents lose their minds over. Add it on for £18.99.
